Blooms and Blessings: A Spring Rhythm

Spring has a way of sneaking in with little reminders that new life is everywhere. As you know, we're on the Blue Ridge nearly every day we head to R&G. One minute the trees look bare, and the next minute you notice tiny buds, bright flowers, and the warmth that is on the way.

There’s something about this season that invites us to slow down… to notice… and to remember that God is always at work, bringing new life in ways both big and small.

So this month, we wanted to share a simple, cozy rhythm you can enjoy with your family—or even just by yourself.

Take a “Blooms and Blessings” Walk

This isn’t something you need to plan or prepare for. It’s simply about being intentional with a moment you might already have.

Take a short walk around your neighborhood, visit a favorite park, or even spend a few quiet minutes in your own yard.

As you walk, gently guide your family (or your own thoughts) through three simple steps:

1. Notice New Life

Look for three signs of new life or something beautifully notable.

It might be:

  • A flower beginning to bloom

  • Fresh green leaves on a tree

  • The warmth of the sun after a long stretch of cold days (we sure had some cold days!)

Let it be simple. Let it be unhurried. Let it be fun!

2. Share What Stands Out

Pause and talk about what you noticed.

Ask:

  • Why did that catch your eye?

  • What do you love about it?

This creates space for connection—not just with nature, but with each other.

3. Speak Life Over One Another

As you finish your walk, take a moment with one another.

Share something you see growing or budding in one another.

For children, this can be as simple as gratitude:

  • “I’m thankful for how kind you were today.”

For older kids or adults, you might say:

  • “I see how interested you’ve been in ______. It’s so special how God is growing that in you.”

  • “I’ve noticed how dedicated you’ve been to ______. It’s inspiring to see what God is doing in your life, and I’m so grateful to be part of it.”

These words matter more than we realize. They plant seeds of identity, encouragement, and truth.

In a world that often feels rushed and noisy, these small, intentional rhythms help us come back to what’s true:

God is always growing something.

In creation.
In our families.
In our own hearts.

And sometimes, all it takes is a few quiet minutes to notice it.

A Gentle Invitation

Whether it’s once this month or something you return to each week, we hope this simple practice becomes a life-giving rhythm for you.

A way to slow down.
A way to connect.
A way to stay rooted in Him.
