More Than Networking: The Story Behind Rooted Connections

When we first started Rooted and Gather, Cassie and I each had a few things we felt were especially important. As much as she wanted to make sure we had good coffee and tasty treats (and she was absolutely right!), I knew I wanted us to create a place where Christian business owners could gather.

Honestly, it seemed fitting for a business with "Gather" in its name.

I've always believed that life is about relationships and business is no exception. We exchange business cards and learn what people do, but the best part is getting to know the people behind the businesses. We learn their stories, celebrate their wins, pray through their challenges, and discover little ways we can encourage and support one another.

This month was no exception.

A small group gathered around the table to share the dreams God has placed on our hearts for our businesses. We talked through challenges, celebrated victories, and spent time brainstorming together. One person's question became another person's experience, and before long, the conversation was full of ideas, encouragement, and a way forward.

As we've watched these evenings unfold, we've realized they're about something deeper than networking. That's why we've renamed our Christian Networking group Rooted Connections.

The name feels like a better reflection of what happens when we gather. We don't simply exchange business cards and head home. We pray for one another. We make introductions. We share referrals and ideas. We celebrate what God is doing and encourage each other through the seasons that feel a little harder.

One of my favorite parts of the evening was creating a simple handout to help continue those conversations beyond our walls. We've attached it here in case you'd like to gather with a few friends, colleagues, or fellow business owners and spend some intentional time encouraging one another.

Next month, we'll gather again with a little Christmas in July spirit. We'll chat about our hopes for the holiday season in our businesses, share ideas, and enjoy a little time working alongside one another. (Learn more & sign up here)
